Sweet Evil Series…

Sweet Evil Series by Wendy Higgins

My Rating 4/5, Goodreads Rating 4.19/5.0

Hey guys! Sorry its taken me so long to get this up! I will confess I got distracted by another series that pulled me in and swept me away… Don’t worry y’all will be hearing about it soon! Along with that and school orientation I just haven’t been able to find the time to devote my full attention to this review until today. Here we go though, let your inhibitions melt away and indulge with me in Sweet Evil.

Oh where to even begin with this series… Let me start off by saying that I love this series, I really do. Even though there were a few things here and there that bothered, overall I enjoyed these books immensely. With a potent mix of romance, humor, and suspense, it’s definitely a series that makes you stumble down the book world rabbit hole. With dark, brooding, bad-boy musician Kaiden Rowe and sweet, innocent Anna Witt it’s a series that anyone can relate too. One thing I really enjoyed about this series was the growth I saw in the characters throughout it. They grew individually throughout the series, and they also grew as a couple. In particular seeing Anna grow throughout the series was very enjoyable to me. I felt as if she truly found herself by the end, she wasn’t the same as the beginning, but in a way she was better… Stronger.

Wendy Higgins created a very interesting world for this series, an urban fantasy that involves both angels and demons. The setting and characters she created are very complex. Even the minor characters are extremely well developed, which as the reader just made me even more attached to them. Ginger and Marna had me laughing out loud throughout the entire book series! The only thing that did bother me about this series is that there was a slight love triangle, which I just couldn’t get into… However, I am not a huge fan of love triangles anyways. By the end of it all though, it had me crying tears of joy and sorrow.

This book series is an enjoyably indulgent read that I recommend to any book lover. And ladies… Look out for Kaiden Rowe, because he is delectably HOTT (with the two T’s, lets see if you can pick up on that in the books!), and you will be lusting after him after the first meeting 😉 Did I mention he has an english accent? Yeah… that pretty much did it for me too. Ms. Higgins created a series that will leave you absolutely Addicted, in the best possible way for book readers.

Favorite quotes from the Sweet Evil Series –

“I’m tired of living like I’m not alive.” He dropped his hands from my face to grip my shoulders. “I’m bloody sick to death of it. I want one night to be alive. With you.” He closed his eyes and leaned his forehead on mine. “Please, Anna. One last night and we’ll go back to being safe again. I need this. I need you.”  – Wendy Higgins, Sweet Reckoning.

“…there is no way of truly knowing one’s heart until one is put to the test.” – Wendy Higgins, Sweet Evil.

Please let me know your thoughts on Sweet Evil after you read it! If you have any book suggestions I would love to hear those as well! Look out for my review of Blue Bloods by Melissa de la Cruz next week!

Lux Series…

The Lux Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout

My Rating 4/5, Goodreads rating 4.29/5

Okay let me start off by saying that I was cautious at the start of this series. It was one of those books that had been on my to read list for about a year. I liked the description, but when I heard aliens… I wasn’t too sure about it. Now don’t get me wrong, I love a good paranormal romance as much as the next girl. But I mean come on! Aliens! Yeah, that had never really been my thing. Then I started reading the Lux series, and holy sweet alien babies I’m pretty sure I was humming Katy Perry’s extraterrestrial while wishing with all my might that my very own alien boyfriend would appear in front of me. This series has it all the chemistry, the witty remarks, the angst, and the laugh out loud moments that we all love. It’s literally a stay up all night then call into work the next morning sick so that you can stay home a finish it kind of series.

The two main characters are Daemon and Katy. Katy is everything I love in a heroine, brave, witty, funny, and… she’s a total book nerd! Katy is one of the very few heroines who never got on my nerves, I really understood her and rooted her on throughout the whole series. She stood her ground and always stood up for what she believed was right. Katy also had her breaking point moments though, and in those moments I broke down with her. That is how much the author makes you empathize with the characters in this series. Now on to Daemon… Where do I even begin? Well first off, he is forever one of my absolute favorite book boyfriends, and no he doesn’t sparkle lol (read the books and you’ll get it!). At the beginning Daemon is snarky and rude, yet unbelievably hot. However, the more you get to know Daemon the more you fall in love with him. He’s sweet and thoughtful, but most of all Daemon is fiercely protective of those he loves and he will go to any lengths to protect them. Trust me, by the end of it all you’ll be wishing you could snap your fingers and make Daemon appear in front of you too.

One thing I did appreciate about this series was that there is tragedy. Bad things happen, and not everyone comes out okay in the end. But to me that makes the books more authentic, because in reality not everyone always gets their happy ending. However, with a multitude of supporting characters that you will love just as much as the main ones all I can say is read this series! Jennifer L. Armentrout truly created a world, and characters that any book lover can fall in love with. She also made me want a “My book boyfriend is better than your boyfriend” shirt desperately!

Favorite quote from the Lux Series – “Air punched out of my lungs. I held her tight, and I knew right then I would burn down the whole universe for her if I had to. I would do anything to keep her safe. Kill. Heal. Die. Anything. Because she was my everything.” –  Jennifer L. Armentrout (Onyx Lux 2)
